

Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities
Design, implement and operate Coinbase’s distributed database technologies (e.g. MongoDB, Postgres, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached).
Develop the future of our database systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Use your experience to guide other senior engineers and leadership on the right technical choices while anticipating the business’s needs, and work with various vendors in the database/storage space.
Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
Maintain, troubleshoot and be on call for engineering and operational support.
Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies in databases to continuously enhance our systems and processes.
Job Requirements
You have at least 8 years of industry experience with a proven track record of building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available distributed systems.
You have in-depth, hands-on experience with large-scale database deployments in a production environment.
You have experience in cloud distributed databases (e.g., MongoDB, Postgres, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached).
You have a solid understanding of distributed database architecture, performance tuning and reliability.
You have backend service and tool development experience in Golang, Java or Python.
You have strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
